ABL Aviation proudly sponsored the Airline Economics LEGENDS awards, which honoured the contributions and visionary leadership of retiring aviation industry leaders.

ABL Aviation, the global independent asset management firm, proudly sponsored the first edition of the Airline Economics‘ LEGENDS awards, which took place in January at Dublin’s RDS. The LEGENDS awards celebrate for the first time the notable accomplishments of the lives and work of renowned aviation professionals who have retired or announced their imminent retirement from the industry in 2023.

Airline Economics Legends Awards Nominees

Ali Ben Lmadani, CEO of ABL Aviation, presented the awards to the nominees and emphasised the significance of the LEGENDS awards. He remarked, “We are not just marking the end of remarkable careers; we are celebrating the lasting legacies these legends have created, especially for the next generation of aviation professionals. We are honoured to acknowledge and support their invaluable contributions to advancing the industry.”

His Excellency Dr. Lahcen Mahraoui, the Moroccan Ambassador to Ireland, graced the occasion alongside more than 5000 distinguished guests attending the 2024 edition of the Airline Economics Growth Frontiers Dublin.

Among the notable nominees honoured were Doug Parker, the former CEO of American Airlines; Tim Myers, former President of Boeing Capital; Gerry Laderman; former Chief Financial Officer at United Airlines; Chris Monroe, former Senior Vice President of Finance and Treasurer at Southwest; Derek Kerr, former Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at American Airlines; Alan Joyce, former CEO of Qantas; Kieran Corr, Global Head of Aviation Finance and CEO of Ireland at Standard Chartered; Mario Jacovides, Global Head of the Structured and Asset Finance group at Allen & Overy; Steve Hannahs, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Wings Capital Partners; William Glaister, Head of Global Asset Finance Group at Clifford Chance; Robert Martin, former CEO of BOC Aviation; and Akbar Al Baker, former CEO of Qatar Airways.
